Lisa Flake's educational philosophy in regard to applied behavior analysis:

I feel that every child can learn. Children with autism can be challenging to teach. If the child is not progressing, it is my fault, not the child's fault. I believe that teaching a child is a science (antecedent- behavior- consequence) and we constantly have to change what we are doing to figure out the best 'recipe' for teaching. I believe in the science of applied behavior analysis and that the data should guide the decisions we make in regard to programming. I believe that we must enjoy working with the children and the child has to enjoy working with us in order to be effective.

In regard to the different 'types' of applied behavior analysis, I implement programs utilizing Skinner's analysis of language. I feel the most effective teaching happens when you mix and vary the verbal operants, utilize reinforcement and teach in both the natural environment and intensively at the table. It is crucial to understand what a child is motivated by and use that motivation to strengthen skills and improve upon deficits.
